Not every steakhouse has to be bare, rustic, and casual. In fact, Queenie’s was voted one of the best restaurants in the Denton area, known as a fine dining establishment thanks to its modern menu and upscale cuisine. In the past, it’s been voted one of the best restaurants in the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Essentially, Queenie’s takes the concept of the classic American steakhouse and puts a somewhat elegant twist on it. Some of the hand-cut steaks on the menu include beef tenderloin, prime New York strip steak, and Buffalo ribeye. Each dish is cooked to perfection.
The rest of the menu combines classic Texas flavors with modern cooking. First courses include rabbit-rattlesnake sausage, chicken fried quail, and a Texas red chili. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and reservations are recommended, especially for dinner. On Friday and Saturday evenings, you can enjoy live music in the bar area.

Food is prepared on a mesquite wood fire, with no gas anywhere in sight. The restaurant emphasizes that it only serves pure, natural, U.S.-sourced food in order to get its customers the freshest, most delicious ingredients available. As the website says, “if it comes in a can —we do not serve it!”.
To keep the menu fresh and original, Prairie House serves a different lunch special every day of the week. The star of the dinner menu is the 12-ounce prime rib. The mesquite-grilled steaks on the menu include a filet, New York strip, hamburger steak, and of course, a classic ribeye.
